....and does this look familiar????

; )

He came home from school wound a little too tight again today. The note said to have him practice spelling words for the test tomorrow.

As I tried to "catch him" to get to work on the spelling words, he started talking back and said that he wouldn't do them with me.

WRONG ANSWER!

I told him to go set the kitchen timer for 10 minutes and assume the position for Strong Sitting.

He walked over to the stove and set the timer for "9 minutes" then "laid down" on the kitchen floor. I pointed at the stove, and he walked over and set the extra minute on the timer and began his Strong Sitting. Did a perfect job too!

So I gave him the directions for "Mom's Spelling Quiz." I would tell him the word and use it in a sentence. If he could (verbally) spell the word correctly then he only had to write it on the paper once. If he spelled it wrong... he had to write it three times.

So we get started.

He misspells the first word. I said, "Okay... you'll need to write it three times then."

"Can I just write it once," he asked.

I went over Mom's rules again.

The next word was "Discover."

He spelled it correctly.

D- I- S- C- O- V- E- R

"Great!   You got it right," I said.

"Do I have to write it," he asks.

I went over Mom's rules again.

He starts to write it. "Hmmmmmm.... DISCOVER," he says, as he appears to be thinking hard.

D-S  hmmmmmmm..... How do you spell it again, Mom?"

"Oh. I thought you knew how to spell that one, but since you don't... you'll have to write that one three times," I said.

"I know how to spell it," he said smiling.

"Too bad.... write it three times anyway... just to make sure you don't forget again," I said sighing.

"Actually... I think I'd like to write it four times instead, just to make sure I know it," he said looking me directly in the eye.

"Three Times... you're going to write it THREE times TLP," I said.

"But I want to write it FOUR times."

"You just bought yourself 10 more minutes of Strong Sitting.  Assume the position," I said in a not so friendly voice.

"Can I do eleven minutes instead?"

HOW DO WE LIVE THROUGH THIS STUFF???   : )
