A Shooting Star
Jan Heffron Taber
Twinkling diamonds on blue velvet night;
Each star holds a spirit preparing for flight.
Waiting and hoping for two of this earth
To build a small home so he may know birth.
Not mortar and brick, instead flesh and bone,
A tiny house built to be spirit's own.
How sad is their world without Mother's love
Their hearts fill with pain their souls can't rise above.
My heart feels sadness, and calls out in pain;
Have these spirits watched and waited in vain?
Oh, what can we do to teach them to love
We can only gain insight from Spirit above.
A tiny star shoots through blue velvet night,
To a loving place, a wondrous flight.
