One other thing we are doing that is working really well is we got the kids dogtag necklaces like the people in the military wear. We had " (our last name) return to holly & (husband's name)" engraved on them. They cost $6 each. I put them on the kids and told them " in case you get lost, someone takes you away, or you decide to run away from home this will show everyone that we want you back and you need to be returned to us immediately"
The kids love the dogtags, they never take them off. The necklaces are strong, and can be worn in the shower. My daughter took hers off once and left it in the bathroom when she was mad, but my husband took it back to her, put it around her neck and said, even if you are mad and think you want to leave this family, I still want you to have this, because we love you and want you back. She was relieved to have it back and said " when I am at school, I take it out and read it when I am scared."
It really helped with their fear of abandonment.

I got them at the air and space museum in DC, but after I wrote that post I thought I better order a back up set in case they get in a snit and lose theirs. So I just went to google and typed in " Dog tags" and they came up with a bunch of sites where they sell them in quantity and individually and in many colors. I am looking at gotags.com the tags here are $8.95 and $2 for a set of silencers ( so they don't clang around- IMPORTANT!) $1 shipping. You can get more lines printed here than on the ones I already have so I am going to have "please return (radishes whole name) to Holly & (husband's name) immediately" printed on them. I have never ordered from this site before, so this is not an endorsement.
