Drugs and Booze and Men

    by T'shandra

She fills her life each day, each night,
With drugs and booze and men.

She hides her pain, her shame,
With drugs and booze and men.

As the days turn to weeks and the weeks turn to months,
Upon her soul, upon her body, a toll is taken,
By drugs and booze and men.

At first, she thought she was mistaken,
Then believed herself blessed,
Through drugs and booze and men.

Beneath her broken, empty heart, a gift,
From drugs and booze and men.

To protect her blessing she chose to refrain,
From drugs and booze and men.

But their siren call she can't resist,
And so she turns again
To drugs and booze and men.

When that Fall, the babe is born,
On its body, she sees writ the curse,
Of drugs and booze and men.
