Verbally Expressed by TLP  (The Child) - Typed by TLP's Mom

November 4, 2009

I would like to thank my mom for helping me all these years.   She has been the adhesive on the tile of my life (this is a joke), always sticking to me wherever I go.  I would like to say thank you to my mom for trusting me to go places now, and I trust her too.  She was always there when I needed her and she liked to help me.  I thank her for helping me and keeping me safe all these years when they took me out of my birth-home.

My mom says that she’s not helping other children right now because she’s not doing respite care but she is helping someone right now.  She’s helping me, and she’s helping everyone.  You don’t have to have someone HERE to help them.  You can help them by talking to them about your ideas and thoughts about not giving up.   You can help them by telling our story.

Everything happens for a reason and your child is going to need you.  So if you’re thinking about giving up on your child, you’re giving up on yourself.  Because if you give up on yourself, you’re giving up on you… and you need that child someday to help you.   My mom helps me, and now I help her because I trust her and love her and I care about her.    I used to bite her and kick her, but I don’t do that anymore because I love her.

I’m 17 years old now and I’m doing better.   I don’t hit or bite or steal or break things anymore.  I plan to have a successful life.

Family isn't about
whose blood you have.
It's about
who you care about.
