When she first came to us, my husband wrote a song titled, "Not Going Home." Three years later, she was taken from us. During that time, I was very depressed and my husband was in the process of getting his latest CD together. He asked one of his friends to design the cover of the CD with the image of her face inside the wall. Unless you know what you're looking for, you can't see it, which is much like these kids. Unless you are willing to look for them beneath the rage... you can't find them.

Not Going Home
-Brad Hacker
I left out in the pouring rain
Things at home are not like yours
If I could fly I'd still be gone,
No God inside to call my own
They keep staring at me and write down everything I say. . .
Take me away from all this pain
Set me back in the pouring rain
Better there than go back home
My scars run deeper than my bones
Then I wouldn't be afraid, Then I wouldn't be alone,
Then I wouldn't be myself and I'm not going home
I am more than I seem I am more than you see
I am more than a kid that you found on the street
And I swear to you now that I'm not going home
So I don't want your sympathy,
Or plastic people hugging me
Your touch to me is a scary thing
Just set me back in the pouring rain
Then I wouldn't be afraid, Then I wouldn't be alone,
Then I wouldn't be myself and I'm not going home
I am more than I seem I am more than you see
I am more than a kid that you found on the street
And I swear to you now that I'm not going home.
