Take A Chance
by T'shandra
What if all you knew of love was a blow?
Hours of being ignored?
Would you reach out to accept,
A tentative, out-stretched hand?
Do we give the children any credit.
For the huge chances they take?
The daring to trust, the risking to love?
When it has failed them before.
Our children have earned purple hearts
In the battles for life,
Silver stars for surviving
What no child should endure.
But what medal is big enough
To award to the child
Who learns to trust,
Who risks it all for love?
